Our customer, a medium sized Primary School with an Ofsted rating of 'Outstanding', required an up-to-date system which would appropriately reflect their reputation as providers of high level care and support of children in their care.
With over 400 pupils enrolled, teachers, management and security staff needed to be able to communicate with each other effectively and rapidly; be it to seek assistance, receive instructions or send a panic message. Site wide, the campus of the school included classrooms, IT suites, an assembly hall and gymnasium, an enclosed play area, an external playing field and a large swimming pool and changing room area. A robust communications solution was required in order to cover the wide area of the site, and the diverse departments and personnel who would be using it.
After extensive investigations by our telecom consultants into the specific challenges that the site required, Multitone selected the EkoTek system. This award-winning communications solution included response call and alerting systems which perfectly suited the needs of our customer. It was able to provide communication between teachers calling for security or assistance, as well as providing a rapid response for emergencies in harder to cover areas such as outbuildings. The system allows users to not only communicate an alert, but to also automatically define their location.
As well as being easy to install and with a user-friendly functionality, we selected EkoTek because of its ability to operate on a low power network and, by using indoor and outdoor repeaters, it was able to be extended to cover the entire campus including playgrounds, fields and outbuildings.
With the implementation of this wireless communications solution, the school was better able to manage and control calls for assistance and respond to threats and emergencies within the campus grounds. Staff and pupil safety was optimised and management felt confident they were upholding their critical commitment to not only parents, but also the campus faculty, to provide the highest level of protection, care and communication.
